KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin) has launched 'Spoton SEAL,' a urethane-based sealant that can be used as a waterproofing sealing compound.
'Spoton SEAL' is a sealing compound that fills cracks that develop in concrete and the joints between concrete during rooftop waterproofing work. In particular, because this product is a urethane-based sealant, it offers excellent compatibility given that the main component of waterproofing materials is urethane resin.
By its nature, the concrete that makes up a rooftop floor develops cracks over time or through exposure to the external environment. In particular, concrete expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, and joints are placed at regular intervals to prepare for the resulting cracking. If waterproofing work is carried out while cracks and joints remain, it is difficult to achieve a smooth coated surface and the waterproofing effect is reduced, so a filling material that is highly compatible with the waterproofing material is required.
In addition, urethane resin has good elasticity and coating-film strength, so cracks are less likely to occur, and it is finished seamlessly to prevent leaks. Because waterproofing materials applied to rooftops must in particular prevent cracking caused by outdoor exposure and provide essential resistance to rainwater, paint incorporating urethane resin is used. 'Spoton SEAL' is also based on urethane resin as its main component, so it offers excellent elasticity and can eliminate the seams in the filled areas.
A KCC official said, "Rooftop waterproofing coating work is carried out periodically not only on new buildings but also on existing buildings, so there is strong demand," adding, "Spoton SEAL effectively fills cracked areas such as cracks and joints, so it will work well when used together with urethane waterproofing materials such as our own Spoton."
