KCC announced that it is entering full-scale sales with the launch of the 'Firemask AQ Series,' Korea's first water-based organic fireproof coating.
The newly developed 'Firemask AQ' series dries approximately four times faster than conventional oil-based fireproof coatings, allowing work to be carried out up to twice a day. This not only shortens the construction period but also minimizes coating film defects during transport and installation after painting, thereby reducing quality risks. In addition, it minimizes volatile organic compound (VOC) content. It is also a halogen-free product free of ozone-depleting hazardous substances.
Fireproof coatings serve to prevent building collapse and the spread of fire: in the event of a building fire, the coating film applied to the steel frame foams up, delaying the rise in the steel's temperature. In particular, water-based organic fireproof coatings are the fruit of leapfrog technology that replaces the coating's oil-soluble resin with a water-soluble resin while maintaining fire resistance performance, thereby also securing eco-friendliness. Based on this quality, the product delivers sufficient fire resistance performance even at a thinner film thickness than competitors' oil-based fireproof coatings, earning a fire-resistance structure certificate from the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology. Furthermore, with extremely low emissions of pollutants under the Indoor Air Quality Control Act, it has also been selected as an Indoor Mark certified product.
