LG Electronics is officially launching the ‘LG SIGNATURE OLED T’ — the world’s first wireless, transparent TV and a product that brings together the most advanced TV technology available today — onto the global market.
The ‘LG SIGNATURE OLED T’ is a top-tier product designed for the most demanding customers, combining the overwhelming picture quality of a 77-inch (approx. 196 cm diagonal), 4K (3840×2160) resolution OLED with a transparent screen and wireless audio-video (AV) transmission and reception technology. With simple remote control operation, users can freely switch between two screen modes. Switching to ‘Black Screen Mode’ to watch TV lets you enjoy content such as movies and games in the overwhelming native 4K picture quality of the large 77-inch OLED. When you are not watching, ‘Transparent Mode’ makes it look as though the black TV screen has vanished, allowing you to see the space behind the screen — a design that takes harmony with the surrounding interior into account. In addition, viewing dedicated content with the Always-On Display (AOD) feature delivers an immersive, three-dimensional viewing experience. For example, when you play media art of fish swimming, the content overlaps with the space behind the screen, so you can feel the vivid sensation of fish actually swimming through the real space.
The bar-shaped main body beneath the transparent OLED screen features a front display that provides a range of information, including ▲scheduled programs ▲the music currently playing and ▲the current weather and time. When you are not watching TV, it can also be used as a 4.2-channel, 60W Bluetooth speaker. The wireless AV transmission solution further enhances the sense of open space that the transparent screen provides. Peripheral devices such as console equipment and set-top boxes, which used to be connected to the main body of a conventional TV, can be connected to a separate Zero Connect Box installed beside the living-room sofa or under a side table. Furthermore, the dedicated web operating system (webOS) home screen of the ‘LG SIGNATURE OLED T’ separates out content recommendation pages and reduces the amount of information shown on a single screen, presenting it in a clean, concise layout. Park Hyoung-sei, President and Head of LG Electronics’ Media Entertainment Solution (MS) Company, said, “The LG SIGNATURE OLED T is a product that removes elements unnecessary to the customer and concentrates the best technology available today on the essence of the TV,” adding, “Through technological innovation that only LG Electronics can achieve, we will deliver a customer experience worthy of the distinction of a ‘TV that everyone aspires to own.’”
Meanwhile, LG Electronics plans to roll out the ‘LG SIGNATURE OLED T’ sequentially across major global markets, including Europe and Korea, starting with pre-order sales in the North American market. The product’s shipping price is USD 59,999 (approximately KRW 86.92 million). 1544-7777
