Launched in three colors of ceramic patterns, with additional options such as leather, fabric and stone to follow. LG Hausys (CEO Min Kyung-jip) has launched ‘S-Texture,’ a furniture film featuring ceramic patterns.
Furniture film is a surface finishing material that is applied to the surface of plywood—a furniture material—to express various designs. ‘S-Texture’ is a compound of the English words ‘Special’ and ‘Texture,’ conveying that the product features unique printed patterns and designs based on the differentiated coating technology exclusive to LG Hausys furniture film.
The ‘S-Texture’ film that LG Hausys has introduced this time is made from PET, a material whose safety has been verified to the extent that it is widely used for food and beverage containers, and it reproduces the design and texture of the ceramic material that has recently been gaining popularity in the premium kitchen furniture markets of Europe and Korea.
Until now, PET furniture films were mostly single-color products, as it was technically difficult to naturally express deep embossing and printing. In contrast, LG Hausys applied a specially developed coating technology to ‘S-Texture’ so that the printed patterns settle stably onto the PET layer and are not damaged during the embossing process, thereby overcoming the design limitations of PET material and succeeding in reproducing a surface texture and design that look just like real ceramic material.
Launched in three colors of ceramic patterns, ‘S-Texture’ has drawn a favorable response from customers such as construction companies and furniture makers from the early stages of its launch, and LG Hausys plans to introduce a variety of additional patterns going forward, including leather, fabric and stone.
Kang Shin-woo, Executive Vice President and head of the Surface Materials Business Division at LG Hausys, said, “S-Texture is a product that satisfies all the requirements a furniture film should have—quality, design and eco-friendliness—and has been recognized even by global furniture makers in Europe and North America,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to introduce products that combine trend-leading design with eco-friendliness, based on the differentiated manufacturing and coating technology unique to LG Hausys.”
Meanwhile, LG Hausys introduced its interior film ‘BENIF’ this past March, which has been receiving a favorable response from consumers. ‘BENIF’ was launched with 12 patterns reflecting the latest interior trends, such as Classic Wood, Pearlite and Leather, and including the detailed color variants within each pattern, it comes to a total of around 100 types. In particular, ‘BENIF Classic Wood’ applies a synchronized embossing technique that aligns the wood grain with the surface embossing to enhance a realism resembling actual wood, while ‘Pearlite,’ which adds a sense of luxury, is characterized by using pearl material 20 times larger than that of existing pearl-design products to add a three-dimensional effect. 080-005-4000
