Aggressively Targeting the Growing Furniture Board Market

LX Hausys has launched a new furniture board product, 'LX Z:IN Board BORTE.'

Furniture board is a product made by attaching film to MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard), and it is used for kitchen and living room furniture doors. Until now, furniture manufacturers have produced furniture by separately attaching film to MDF, but as they have recently come to prefer board-type products that reduce production time, LX Hausys has introduced this new product.

The new product 'BORTE' is a premium furniture board made by attaching PET film to MDF made from domestic pine wood, boasting outstanding durability, eco-friendliness, and a sensory design. In particular, 'BORTE' applies PET film featuring LX Hausys' own differentiated SMR (Supermatt Resist) coating technology to MDF, delivering a low-gloss surface texture that looks as if it has been painted, while also being resistant to scratches and everyday stains and preventing fingerprints and other marks from showing. In fact, the PET film applied to 'BORTE' had its performance recognized when it obtained a test report certifying that it meets the demanding European standards (EN) in two categories—scratch resistance and stain resistance—based on tests conducted by CATAS, Italy's accredited testing institution. In addition, the new product 'BORTE' ensures eco-friendliness by using MDF made from domestic pine wood that has obtained a superior grade (E0) for hazardous substance emissions. 'BORTE' is being launched at a level (0.4 mg/L or less) that is even stricter than the E0-grade formaldehyde emission standard (0.5 mg/L). LX Hausys' new furniture board product 'BORTE' is offered in 48 color designs that reflect the latest furniture trend of combining diverse colors and materials, including designs with colors that subtly shift depending on the viewing angle and three-dimensional embossing (raised and recessed patterns).

An LX Hausys official stated, "The new product 'BORTE' is a premium product that leverages LX Hausys' accumulated film processing technology to secure superior durability and eco-friendliness compared to existing furniture films and boards, along with a differentiated design," adding, "We plan to expand its supply, together with our furniture films, to furniture manufacturers at home and abroad going forward."
