‘Colibri’ is Martinelli Luce's flagship modular system lighting series, expressing three-dimensional structures by combining various modules. Created in 2014 by Emiliana Martinelli, daughter of founder Elio Martinelli, Colibri uses a basic module—an LED bar set in a straight line within a long linear body—to realize a variety of fixtures such as table lamps, floor lamps, pendants, and wall lights. The modules are joined by circular magnetic joints, connecting very easily and in diverse ways using every angle. The body can be rotated 180 degrees to change the direction of the light, so the light, switched to uplight or downlight, can be used as direct or indirect lighting. Within the series, ‘Colibri Magnetic’ is a fixture composed of 130 cm basic modules connected to one another with magnets; by adjusting the height of each segment differently to vary the inclination, the magnets act as joints, allowing the lighting to shape a space three-dimensionally.
The ‘Luna OP Series’ can create a variety of forms by combining ring-shaped fixtures in three sizes—50, 80, and 120 cm in diameter. As its name ‘moon’ suggests, it emits light softly along its circular lines. It is designed with an LED module and a diffuser made of opal methacrylate to minimize glare while producing bright light. Depending on the combination of products, it can be applied as a dining light, room light, or living room light, and combining all three sizes lets it be used like a modern chandelier in a duplex space. ‘Lady Galala’ is a pendant light that combines three diffuser modules of different sizes and colors; its distinctive feature is that the design can be easily changed by rearranging the order of the modules and flipping them when assembling.
