Signify Korea, a global leader in the lighting industry, has launched the 'Philips LED Bulb,' which uses advanced sunflower-pattern optical technology to simultaneously minimize glare, eliminate light flicker, and deliver a uniform lighting effect.

The sunflower pattern applied to the upper glass portion of the newly launched 'Philips LED Bulb' is a Philips-exclusive technology that improves upon one of the drawbacks of LEDs—the directional nature of their light. The sunflower-pattern technology significantly reduces the glare of the LED bulb and produces a uniform lighting effect that is 40% better than conventional lamps, providing a lighting environment that is easy on the eyes. In addition, it supports a wide beam angle of 200 degrees—exceeding the horizontal angle of 180 degrees—greatly enhancing lighting efficiency.

The sunflower-pattern Philips LED Bulb carries the Philips 'EyeComfort' mark, which is applied only to products that have received the highest-grade certification under IEC62471, the international photobiological safety standard—raising consumer trust to a new level. IEC62471 is an international standard that assesses whether ultraviolet, blue light, infrared, and other emissions from lighting products are harmful to the human body, including the skin, eyes, and retina. On this point, Professor Andrew Stockman of the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London (UCL) emphasized, "Flickering light can not only lower quality of life but also lead to eye fatigue, headaches, and even intermittent epileptic seizures, so choosing the right lighting is extremely important."

Kang Yong-nam, President of Signify's Greater Northeast Asia region, advised, "The eyes, which are constantly exposed to light, can be adversely affected by subtle, hard-to-detect light flicker, uneven illumination, and glare," adding, "When choosing an LED product, checking whether it holds the highest grade of the IEC62471 international photobiological safety standard certification—which can determine harmfulness to the eyes and skin—is an essential step in protecting eye health."

Meanwhile, the Philips EyeComfort LED Bulb featuring sunflower-pattern technology is available at E-Mart stores nationwide, offline dealers, lighting specialty stores, and major online stores.
