When the cut edge chemically reacts with air and initial red rust forms, the simonkolleite layer—a corrosion product—spreads from the upper and lower coating layers to the cut edge, coating the cross-section and thereby preventing further corrosion. In addition, the hardness of the coating layer is far higher than that of galvanized steel sheet, minimizing scratching during construction.
