Hanil Cement has launched ‘Hi-Poxy,’ a new product that maintains the bonding strength of conventional epoxy-based tile adhesives while enhancing ease of application.
Conventional epoxy-based tile adhesives offer superior bonding strength compared to cement-based or acrylic-bond tile adhesives and have been used to attach a wide variety of tiles, but they have the drawbacks of a pungent odor and a short working time. The new ‘Hi-Poxy’ product improves on the drawbacks of conventional epoxy-based products, such as the pungent odor and short working time, and was developed to reflect the needs of tile installation sites. According to Hanil Cement, ‘Hi-Poxy’ was completed after roughly three years of development. It is a two-part adhesive used by mixing one pack of powder with one can of liquid, and because it emits no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), it reduces concerns about sick building syndrome. Its working time has also been extended to more than 90 minutes—over 30 minutes longer than conventional products. In addition, it is formulated with polymer components for high resistance to deformation, and as a non-combustible material it also helps prevent the spread of fire. The new ‘Hi-Poxy’ product recently won a technology award at the academic conference of the Korea Institute of Building Construction, earning recognition for its technical excellence.
A Hanil Cement official said, “With this new product, we focused on developing something that preserves the advantages of conventional epoxy adhesives while substantially improving the installer’s working environment,” adding, “Going forward, we plan to continue developing products that reflect the needs of construction sites in step with rapidly changing building trends and the growing preference for eco-friendly building materials.”
Meanwhile, in addition to ‘Hi-Poxy,’ Hanil Cement has recently introduced a series of high-performance products centered on its Remital brand, including ▲‘Remital Con-Patch SL,’ a self-leveling mortar for outdoor use, ▲‘Remital FS600HD,’ a high-density mortar for reducing inter-floor noise, and ▲‘Remital FS500,’ a flooring material for plaster-free installation. Hanil Cement is also focusing on advancing product performance, developing eco-friendly building materials, and securing carbon-reduction technologies. In particular, it is accelerating the development of carbon capture and storage technology to reduce carbon generated in the cement manufacturing process, and since 2024 it has participated in a national project of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, conducting research—together with companies such as Eugene Corporation and Lotte Engineering & Construction—to convert carbon dioxide generated in the cement industry using in-situ carbonation technology. 02-531-7000
