Sharpen, a specialist importer of building materials, has launched ‘Concreate,’ an eco-friendly panel that makes it easy to apply a concrete style.
‘Concreate’ is a product that reflects the modern architectural spirit of the renowned architect Le Corbusier, and its strengths lie in the material’s eco-friendliness, fast installation, and natural design. In particular, it is a building material that faithfully showcases the innate beauty of concrete, and it is a collaborative product designed and developed jointly by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The main materials of ‘Concreate’ consist of a blend of concrete, quartz, sand, and paper pulp, and a defining feature is its emphasis on the material’s eco-friendliness from the production process all the way through to installation. Carbon emissions are dramatically reduced in the production process, and by using eco-friendly mineral concrete as a raw material, the environmental friendliness of the material itself is secured; a dedicated adhesive was also developed with consideration for the environmental pollution that can occur during installation. The specially formulated ‘Concreate’ adhesive is made using recycled and eco-friendly materials and offers excellent adhesive strength.
‘Concreate’ boasts installation so simple it can be used just two hours after installation, and despite being a concrete material, the lightweight tile of about 7 kg per ㎡ eases the burden on workers during installation. In addition, the relatively flexible material can be installed to a curvature radius of R40, which cannot be achieved with ordinary concrete. It is also highly resistant to water and moisture, so it can be used without worry even in Korea’s climate with its large seasonal weather variations, and its excellent fire resistance keeps it safe against the risk of fire.
On top of this, ‘Concreate,’ which is cured through air hardening and compression, has similar colors and characteristics but no two tiles are exactly alike in shape, and its distinctive, unique texture and surface design allow for the creation of natural spaces. The new product ‘Concreate’ is available in 3 designs and 10 colors, and custom colors can be produced depending on order volume. It comes in dimensions of 400–2400 mm in length, 200–1000 mm in width, and 4–12T in height.
Meanwhile, following the eco-friendly panel ‘Concreate,’ Sharpen also plans to introduce a flooring version of ‘Concreate’ that retains warmth and can improve heating efficiency in winter. 02-542-0111
